Well for those who haven't heard I am now Digg's newest programmer. For those who aren't "in the know", Digg aggregates news and lets its users decide on what is important. Kind of a cool idea.
For the last 2 weeks I have been packing, selling, and throwing away everything I own. I must admit it is somewhat cathartic to divest yourself of all your "worldly" possessions. I had no idea how much crap I had accumulated over the years, mind boggling.
I leave Michigan on Sunday, the 29th, and begin my drive across the country. I bought a digital camera to help chronicle what I am sure will turn out to be a rather interesting adventure. I have a map of my route all printed and ready to go but I haven't made any reservations at any hotels. I am going to play this all by ear. Maybe I will stop at rest stops and sleep for 4-6 hours and just get out there as soon as I can. Then again maybe I will take my time and stop at cool places along the way.
I got my place all ready for me once I get out there. I will be living in Tower Lofts in Jack London Square in Oakland. Seems pretty nice. The crime rate around that area is pretty low from what I hear.
